Saloon doors open from the middle to let people in.
If you are throwing an Old West theme party, one room in your home, possibly the kitchen, should be designated as a saloon. A set of saloon doors can help to complete the room's transformation. You can make the doors out of cardboard and they can swing back and forth like the real thing. These doors can be installed on the day of your party, then taken down after its over just as easily.

Step 1
Measure the width of your doorway with a tape measure. Subtract one-half inch, then divide the total in half for the width of one saloon door.
Step 2
Draw one side of the saloon door on a piece of cardboard with a pencil, using the measurement from Step 1 for the width.
Step 3
Cut out the saloon door with a razor blade.
Step 4
Trace the outline of the saloon door three times on more cardboard, then cut those out. This will give you four total.
Step 5
Glue the two pairs of cardboard together to provide two doors that are each two sheets thick.
Step 6
Paint the doors as desired.
Step 7
Prop the real door open with a doorstop.
Step 8
Hold one of the saloon doors one-half inch away from the door frame at chest height, then secure it in place with duct tape along both sides. The tape should match either the color of the saloon door or the door frame.
Step 9
Squeeze the tape together between the door frame and the saloon door until it sticks, creating a hinge that allows the door to swing back and forth.
Step 10
Secure the other door onto the other side of the door frame.
