Cover the windows on your doors with damaging the door.
Comstock/Comstock/Getty ImagesHanging curtains over a door's windows creates privacy and filters out light. However, drilling to install hardware damages the door. If you live in a rental and aren't permitted to drill into your doors or don't want to create a permanent fixture, you can hang your curtains without drilling into the door. With a few inexpensive purchases and a bit of time, you can hang curtains over the windows, adding function and style to the door in the process.

Step 1
Measure the distance from one side of the interior of the window frame to the other. Hold a tape measure against the inside edge of one of the sides of the window frame and pull it across to the opposite interior edge. The top and bottom of the window should both measure the same size, but to be on the safe side, measure both spaces.
Step 2
Purchase thin, spring-tension rods fitting the dimensions, one for the window's top and the other for the bottom.
Step 3
Unscrew the spring-tension rods so that they are slightly larger than the window's width.
Step 4
Insert one spring-tension rod through the openings at the top and bottom of the curtain.
Step 5
Hold both of the sides of the curtain rod in each of your hands. Press in on the curtain rod, compressing it. Set the ends of the rod on the upper interior edges of the window frame. Release your hands. The curtain rod springs open, fitting snugly into the window frame.
Step 6
Repeating the same procedure secures the curtain's bottom to the window's bottom.
