Liven Up Your Plate with Homemade Salsa

Simple, healthy, and easy to prepare, salsa will liven up any meal! Here are a few of our fave alive salsa recipes.

From grilled steak to fish, tacos to breakfast burritos, a variety of dishes are elevated from good to great with one simple addition: salsa!

Not only does salsa pack a mean flavour punch, but also it’s loaded with health-promoting antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Whether we’re discussing tangy mango salsa or traditional salsa verde, all salsas have their own unique taste and nutritional highlights. Tomatoes boast the antioxidant lycopene, while onions contain disease-fighting flavonoids, and cilantro has the free radical-fighter beta carotene—and these are just a few common salsa additions.

Another benefit of salsa? It is so ridiculously easy to make. Just last night I whipped up a batch of pico de gallo. It had six ingredients total: plum tomatoes, sweet white onion, jalapeno, cilantro, and a squeeze of fresh lime and dash of sea salt for good measure. And it probably took no longer than six minutes to prepare.

Here are some of our favourite alive salsas.

  • Mexican Flag Salsa
  • Fresh Garden Salsa
  • Pineapple Salsa
  • Jamaican Mango Papaya Salsa
  • Roasted Cherry Tomato Salsa
  • Melon and Kiwi Salsa
  • Strawberry Salsa
  • Berry Salsa
  • Avocado Mango Salsa
  • Salsa Verde

Which one are you going to try?
